We finally meet Heather today. She cried for the first few hours but here and there we saw a glimmer of the sunshine to come. She let me hold her for a period of time but she really seems to be warming up to Karen. We were told by our agency guide and others that we met here in Guangzhou that she will adjust quickly and we should expect a different girl. She was pointing out the window and saying something that I couldn’t understand but when I said to her do you want to go outside in English she nodded her head, yes, so off we went for a stroll. Anyways I will be posting more pictures tomorrow but here’s one with her enjoying a lollipop.

  2. Congratulations! Your whole family must be so thrilled. Heather looks beautiful (and aren't lollipops amazing!). Her crying is actually a great sign. Hopefully, she felt safe, happy and content where she was and was attached to her caregivers so showing signs of grief is good (but perhaps hard on you guys). So many families say that day four seems to be the magic day when the kids "break through" and begin to relax, smile, and show you who they really are. We are so happy for all of you! Have a wonderful time getting to know your precious new daughter!

  4. I bet you have a wonderful day today...our first day with Alexandra MaJi (Ji Hua Ma) was tough also, since she was sick. The second day was glorious. Enjoy this time bonding and being parents...it is not always easy but the rewards are endless.

    Much Love,
    Michelle and Ed

  6. I nearly missed it! So glad I thought to check in on you guys tonight. Can't wait to see more pics and hear how things are going tomorrow. As others have said, in our travel group there was much adjustment in those first 3 days or so. Thinking of you all!
